As equine-assisted practitioners, we navigate more moving parts than the average life coach, business coach, or consultant ever will. We work with clients, manage horses, coordinate facilities, balance program development, tend to our own wellbeing, and hold space for transformation — all at the same time.
And with more moving parts come more blind spots.
Not because we’re inexperienced.
Not because we’re not skilled.
But because we’re human.
Every one of us has areas where time drips away unnoticed…
Where money trickles out through cracks we didn’t see…
Where energy leaks quietly drain our momentum.
These blind spots aren’t personal failings — they’re simply places that need light.
Why This Time of Year Matters
As we approach the turn of the year, it’s the perfect moment to pause — truly pause — and invite in reflection. This is where I ask my clients (and myself) to take a brief energy audit:
- What worked beautifully this year?
- What didn’t work so well?
- Where did my energy expand?
- Where did it get drained faster than I could refill it?
- What wants to stay, evolve, or be released — for my sake and for the horses?
I love this season because it naturally brings renewal and recalibration. It’s a moment of slowing down, feeling into the quiet wisdom the horses model daily, and deciding which patterns are worth carrying into the new year… and which need to be left at the gate.
What the Horses Teach Us About Blind Spots
Every time I step into the arena or pasture with the horses, they reveal something I wasn’t seeing. Their feedback is immediate, honest, and free of judgment. They show me where I’m in alignment — and where I’m not. They illuminate the tension I thought I was hiding. They reflect back the places I’m moving with clarity… and where I’m scattering my energy.
There is always a message from the horses.
Always a moment of truth that brings clarity to my next movement.
When we apply this same principle to our own businesses — honest reflection, energetic alignment, and intentional recalibration — everything begins to shift. Productivity rises. Revenue increases. Confidence returns. And we step into the new year with strategy and strength rather than worry and guesswork.
